A Smash Ultimate random picker you can see
The game has its own random option on the character select screen. This Smash Ultimate random picker adds a few things on top: you can see the whole pool, take out fighters you have already played, and keep a record of every pick. It is a wheel with every fighter from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, base game and DLC, and a result card that tells you whether the fighter came from the launch roster or a downloadable pack. It is free and nothing needs to be typed.
How to spin for a fighter
- Open the Options tab. Under Roster, both Base game and DLC are checked.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl + Enter.
- The dialog shows “Your fighter is”, the name, and “Base game roster” or “Downloadable fighter”.
- Press Done, Remove it, or Spin again.
With all 87 slots on the wheel, names may be too small to print on a phone. The result dialog always shows the full name.
What counts as a slot
The wheel has 87 entries in roster order:
- Base game: 74 slots, from Mario to Incineroar, including every echo fighter.
- DLC: 13 slots: Piranha Plant, Joker, Hero, Banjo & Kazooie, Terry, Byleth, Min Min, Steve, Sephiroth, Pyra, Mythra, Kazuya and Sora.
A few choices are worth knowing:
- Pokemon Trainer is one slot. You switch Pokemon in the match.
- Pyra and Mythra are two slots, so you know which one to start as.
- Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter and Mii Gunner are three separate slots.
Ways to play with random fighters
Roster run without repeats
Turn on “Remove each winner automatically” and play one match with each fighter the wheel gives you. The wheel shrinks as you go, and the Results tab keeps a numbered list of your run.
Random fighters for friendly battles
Each player spins before every match and must use the result. It levels the field when one friend has mained the same character for years.
Learning the DLC
Uncheck Base game and spin only among the 13 downloadable fighters. It is a quick way to get practice with characters you bought but rarely pick.
Random draft for team battles
With removal on, players take turns spinning until everyone has three fighters. Nobody can share a character.
Stream challenges
Go full screen and let the wheel choose your next fighter live. Mystery mode hides every name until the result appears.
Fair picks
Each spin is decided by your browser’s cryptographic random generator before the wheel moves. Every slot has an equal chance. The share button gives you a link that keeps your filter and removed fighters, so a friend can continue the same run.

Frequently asked questions
How many fighters are on the Smash Ultimate random picker?
There are 87 slots: 74 from the base game roster and 13 downloadable fighters. Pokemon Trainer counts as one slot, while Pyra and Mythra each have their own.
Are echo fighters included?
Yes. Daisy, Dark Samus, Lucina, Dark Pit, Chrom, Richter and Ken each have their own slot, so they are as likely to come up as anyone else.
Can I spin only DLC fighters?
Yes. In the Options tab, uncheck Base game under Roster. The wheel then holds the 13 downloadable fighters, from Piranha Plant to Sora.
How do I play through the whole roster without repeats?
Turn on 'Remove each winner automatically' in Settings. Each fighter leaves the wheel when you close the result, so you work through all 87 before any fighter returns. The Restore button starts the run over.
Why is Pokemon Trainer only one slot?
In the game you pick Pokemon Trainer once and switch between Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard during the match. The wheel follows that and treats the trainer as a single pick.
Are the three Mii fighters on the wheel?
Yes. Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter and Mii Gunner each have a slot.
