A baseball team name generator for softball and baseball
This baseball team name generator gives you names for slow pitch softball, co-ed rec leagues, youth baseball and little league age teams. Every result comes from the language of the diamond, from curveballs to rally caps. Press Generate for ten names, or add your sponsor’s name and see it in every result. It is free and runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Set how many team names you want, from 1 to 50.
- Optional: type a word in “Include a word”, such as your sponsor, town, school or team color.
- Press Generate.
- Tap the copy icon next to a name you like, or press Copy all to share the list.
What the names look like
With the word box empty, about four in ten results come from 27 handcrafted names. Pitch Please, The Mitt Wits and Rally Cap Rebels are three of them. The others pair a term like Grand Slam, Bullpen or Walk Off with nouns like Sluggers, Closers or Lumberjacks. When you add a word, it goes in front of a noun, after an adjective, or in the middle of both.
Slow pitch and co-ed softball
Slow pitch is about showing up, having fun and maybe getting a hit. The name should match. Puns about striking out or hitting foul balls suit a team that knows it is not headed to the big leagues. In a co-ed league, choose a name that works for every player on the roster, not one that singles out part of the team.
Youth baseball and little league age teams
For kids, the best names are simple and cheerful. Generate a batch at the first practice and let the players vote on a short list. Many youth teams carry a sponsor’s name, so try the sponsor in the word box and see which version the kids like.
Tips for choosing
- Say it out loud. Imagine the announcer or a parent in the stands reading it.
- Check that it fits on a shirt. Baseball jerseys often put the name in script across the chest. Short names look best.
- Keep it kind. Avoid names that mock the other team, a player or any group of people.
- Think about the scoreboard. Small league scoreboards and schedule sheets may only show part of a long name.
Where it helps
Weeknight softball leagues
Sign ups need a name. Generate one in the parking lot before the first game.
Company softball teams
Add the company name and pick something the whole office can wear.
Youth and tee ball teams
Give the kids a name to cheer. Simple words are easier for young players to remember.
Tournaments and fundraisers
Weekend tournaments and charity games often list team names on a bracket. A clever one gets noticed.
Fair and random
Each name is drawn with your browser’s cryptographic random generator, so no result is favored. Your settings are saved in local storage.

Frequently asked questions
Does this work for softball teams too?
Yes. The words come from the diamond, like bullpen, dugout, line drive and walk off, and almost all of them apply to softball as well as baseball.
What is a good name for a co-ed slow pitch team?
Pick something funny that does not point at anyone. Self-mocking names about foul balls or swinging and missing fit the relaxed mood of slow pitch and work for every player on the roster.
Can I add our sponsor or town to the name?
Yes. Type it in the 'Include a word' box. Each result is then built around your word, which is handy when a local business sponsors your jerseys.
How many baseball and softball names can it make?
There are 27 handcrafted names and 900 pairs from 30 adjectives and 30 nouns, all baseball themed. Adding your own word creates many more.
Are the names okay for a youth team?
Yes. The lists are clean. For young players, the straight adjective plus noun results, like a pitch name with a team noun, are easy to say and cheer.
